An oversized t-shirt is meant to look loose, but there's a difference between relaxed and simply too big. The right size gives you dropped shoulders, room through the chest and a clean length, without sleeves past your elbows or a hem that hangs too low. This guide explains how an oversized tee should fit, shows our size charts in inches, and helps you choose between sizes when you're ordering online.
How should an oversized t-shirt fit?
Use this checklist when you try one on:
- Shoulders: the shoulder seam sits a little below your shoulder, on the upper arm. Cotton tees like the Drippy V2, Mercure and Conquer are cut with a drop-shoulder silhouette, so this is how they're designed to look.
- Chest: there's clear room through the chest and body, so the fabric hangs instead of hugging you.
- Length: the hem ends around your hips, long enough to cover your waistband when you lift your arms, but not so long that it looks like a dress.
- Sleeves: the sleeves are wide and end around the elbow.
- Neckline: the crew neck sits flat against your neck without stretching or gaping.
If the shoulders sit right where your shoulders end and the chest feels close to your body, it's a regular fit, not an oversized one.
Oversized vs regular fit
| Oversized fit | Regular fit | |
|---|---|---|
| Shoulders | Dropped, below the shoulder | On the edge of the shoulder |
| Chest and body | Wide and roomy | Follows your shape |
| Sleeves | Wider, around the elbow | Closer to the arm |
| Look | Relaxed streetwear | Classic and neat |
Hustlers Only oversized t-shirt size chart
Our oversized tees come in Small, Medium, Large and X-Large, and all measurements are in inches. The charts measure the t-shirt itself, not your body: each chart marks the measurements on the shirt.
100% cotton oversized tees
The Graffiti, Grunge, Drippy V2, Mercure and Conquer share the same size chart:
| Size | Chest (all around) | Length | Sleeve length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 46 | 27 | 10 |
| Medium | 48 | 28 | 10.5 |
| Large | 49 | 29 | 11 |
| X-Large | 50 | 30 | 11 |

Notice that from Medium upwards, each size adds just 1 inch to both the chest and the length, so the difference between neighbouring sizes is small.
Mesh oversized tees: Pace and Elite
The Pace and Elite are made from 100% polyester grill mesh and have their own chart:
| Size | Chest (all around, Pace) | Length | Arms |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 45 | 26 | 9.5 |
| Medium | 47 | 27 | 10 |
| Large | 49 | 28 | 10.5 |
| X-Large | 51 | 29 | 11 |

The Elite chart gives the same length and arm measurements, but lists the chest across the front of the shirt rather than all around: 22.5, 23.5, 24.5 and 25.5 inches from Small to X-Large. Double these to compare them with the all-around figures above.

Compared with our cotton tees, the mesh tees are 1 inch shorter in each size, and the chest grows by 2 inches with every size.
Every product page has a Size Guide with the chart for that tee, so check it before you order.
How to find your size
Method 1: compare with a tee you already own (most accurate)
- Pick a t-shirt that fits the way you like and lay it flat.
- Chest: measure straight across from armpit to armpit, then double the number to get the all-around chest.
- Length: measure from the highest point of the shoulder, next to the collar, straight down to the hem.
- Find the size in the chart with the closest numbers.
Method 2: measure your chest
Wrap a soft measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest, under your arms, and keep it level. An oversized tee should measure well above your body: the extra room is what creates the relaxed drape. For example, if your chest is 40 inches, a Medium cotton tee (48 inches all around) gives you 8 inches of room.
Between two sizes? Here's how to choose
- Choose by length if you're short or tall. On our cotton tees the chest changes by only 1 inch from Medium upwards, so length is often what decides how the tee looks on you.
- Choose by chest if you have broad shoulders or a big chest. A tee that's tight across the chest loses the oversized look, however long it is.
- Size up for a longer, more relaxed look, and stay with the smaller size for a cleaner, shorter fit.

Common oversized fit mistakes
- Going two sizes up. Our tees are already cut with extra room, so a much bigger size can look sloppy rather than oversized.
- Ignoring length. A hem that's too long changes the look more than a little extra width does.
- Comparing body and shirt measurements directly. The chart measures the shirt, so a 46-inch Small doesn't mean you need a 46-inch chest.
- Skipping the chart. Our cotton and mesh tees have different charts, so check the chart for the tee you're buying.
Keep the fit: care tips
- Turn the tee inside out and wash it in cold water.
- Dry it in the shade rather than in direct sun.
- Don't iron directly on the print.
Frequently asked questions
Should I size up for an oversized t-shirt?
Usually not. Our oversized tees are already cut with extra room, so your usual size gives the intended look. Size up only if you want it longer and looser.
What is the chest size of a Medium oversized t-shirt?
A Medium in our cotton oversized tees measures 48 inches all around the chest and 28 inches long. A Medium Pace measures 47 inches around the chest and 27 inches long.
How long should an oversized t-shirt be?
Around your hips, so it covers your waistband when you move. Our cotton tees run from 27 inches long in Small to 30 inches in X-Large.
Where should the shoulder seam sit on an oversized tee?
A little below your shoulder, on the upper arm. If it sits right on the edge of your shoulder, the tee is fitting like a regular cut.
Can I wear a compression shirt under an oversized tee?
Yes. It's a popular way to layer for the gym. See how to wear a compression shirt and our compression shirt size guide.
